IKARA is conducting The workshop process is a great way for a community (big or small) to start taking ownership of their celebrations. Working with experienced community artists, everyone from young children to elderly grand parents can become active participants in the event.  Using cane, paper and wire, let your imagination take shape in a kaleidoscope of shapes and colours. From small personal lanterns that can be built in under an hour to extended workshops where giant structures of several meters in size can be constructed. The workshop process is a fun and rewarding way for everyone to get involved.

For a community to make and parade lanterns that they have made themselves,

is an empowering experience for both the participants and onlookers alike.
